I was lucky enough to visit one of the manufacturing facilities of a company you’ve probably never heard of, but have in all likelihood used something it’s created. PC Partner has been making technology happen since 1997 when it began life as a motherboard supplier.

Response time is another important factor to consider. The ideal CDMO is able to perform the stability studies as accurately and quickly as possible. Any delays are likely to impact the pharmaceutical customer significantly as, in many markets, regulatory approval is contingent on the provision of stability data as part of the submission.

Since I'm obviously not a professional athlete, I was just curious to find out my sweat rate running in the heat for a half hour. By taking an ingestible core body temperature sensor pill, which wirelessly transmitted readings to a recorder device outside my body, measuring my weight before and after the test, and exactly how much water I drank during the heated run, I was able to learn that I lose .74 liters per hour. That means that at that same temperature, if I were to run an hour, the perfect amount of fluid I should be taking in would be .74 liters because that's how much I was sweating out.

17. Pests  Insects and bugs may be a source of great annoyance to budding gardeners, but don’t be too liberal with toxic pesticides – so if it is necessary to treat plants or growing vegetable crops, try to use an organic alternative.

These findings are generally in agreement with those of previous studies that compare lactate and glucose levels in blood to those measured in sweat using conventional collection and ex situ analysis techniques (22, 25, 26). Further support for the long-term stability of the sensors follows from comparisons of signals produced by a pair of devices after the 2-day trial with an unused pair (fig. S13, A and B). The data show that the performance of the glucose sensor diminishes minimally, while the response of the lactate sensor decreases by ~20% even after these rigorous 2-day trials. These results represent the first examples of long-term use of skin-interfaced sweat sensors. An initial transient behavior at the beginning of the used glucose sensor is observed, which may be attributed to the stabilization of the sensor signal when exposed to a different solution (buffer) after being exposed to human sweat for 2 days. In any case, this should not be a matter of concern as the signal stabilizes within 10 to 20 s.

A: One day I looked inside my medicine cabinet and thought: Whose stuff is all this? I took 50 things out of the bathroom including five nail clippers — things left behind by now-grown children and past roommates. Then I thought: What else do we have around this house that we don’t need? We could give away 1,000 things. I hired a Hennepin County Master Recycler to help me figure out how to move this stuff along. She identified where things should go, who could reuse this, who could take that packaging. A whole bunch of building materials were posted to online groups and people came by to haul away things I never imagined anyone would want, including old, damaged ceiling tiles for a basement recording studio. Twenty partial cans of paint went to a theater person for props. Other items ended up at a church rummage sale. By the end of the year, we had given away 1,079 things that didn’t end up in the landfill.
