But instead of wrapping your food up in plastic, there are now plenty of alternatives to plastic wrap that’ll keep your food fresh and protected. There’s beeswax-based wrap that can be used to wrap up leftover cheese, fruit, veggies and bread, and linen and cotton bowl covers to protect leftovers, doughs or produce. For various sized bowls and tubs, these silicone stretch lids are durable and expand to fit every sized leftover in your fridge.

The Warwick laboratory’s eight vibration test cells each have a retractable roof to reduce noise and to enable test objects to be craned into position. Each cell houses a shaker able to deliver forces larger than 25kN. The laboratory’s two largest shakers are 160kN LDS V984s. The impressive machines weigh 18 tons, are water cooled, can move test objects of up to two tons in three axes on a table up to 2.1m wide (7ft) and can be swapped between horizontal and vertical configurations. 16. GIY  While we don’t have the climate to support a thriving fruit industry, we can certainly grow our own vegetables. Putting the work into a small section of your garden, a local allotment or even a window box is not only immensely satisfying, but the produce couldn’t be more organic or fresh and the exercise involved in weeding and harvesting will help towards a fitter family.

The most common type of desiccant is silica gel. It is glass-like in appearance but contains many small inter-connected channels opening as pores at the surface. The structure is similar to a sponge with a large inner surface area, adsorbing water molecules on the surfaces of the channels and pores. These pores are capable of adsorbing up to 36% of their own weight of moisture without changing their structure. Silica gel does not develop any vapors, is completely odorless. The adsorption capacity depends on the relative ambient humidity: the higher the relative humidity, the higher the adsorption capacity.
